Theta 5k

Columbus, OH

Kappa Alpha Theta's annual 5K is a fundraiser for Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, which works to support foster children throughout the United States. The Ohio State Alpha Gamma chapter raises money for Ohio CASA and Franklin County CASA. This year is the tenth anniversary of our 5K, so please help us celebrate CASA by joining us on October 9, 2016!

The Alpha Gamma chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta is a social organization of women dedicated to the highest achievements in every sphere of life. Specifically, we focus on fostering intellectual curiosity, developing leadership potential, commitment to service, and constantly striving for personal excellence.

Our commitment to service is seen through our extensive volunteer work, both in the Columbus community and throughout the world, as well as in our philanthropic efforts. Our national philanthropy is Court Appointed Special Advocates, also known as CASA: an amazing organization dedicated towards impacting the lives of foster children. Specifically, we support Ohio CASA and Franklin County CASA.

Apart from having CASA educational activities and having our member working and interning for CASA, our chapter also has multiple fundraisers each year to financially support this incredible organization. The annual Theta 5K is our largest of these fundraisers, and we greatly appreciate your support in our endeavors.

More About The Charity

Our national philanthropy is Court Appointed Special Advocates, also known as CASA: an amazing organization dedicated towards impacting the lives of foster children. CASA's mission is to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused and neglected child can be safe, establish permanence and have the opportunity to thrive.

Every day in this country, 1,900 children become victims of abuse or neglect, and four of them will die. Every day. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children is a network of 949 community-based programs that recruit, train and support citizen-volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in courtrooms and communities. Volunteer advocates—empowered directly by the courts—offer judges the critical information they need to ensure that each child’s rights and needs are being attended to while in foster care.

Volunteers stay with children until they are placed in loving permanent homes. For many abused children, a CASA volunteer is the only constant adult presence in their lives.

Ohio State Kappa Alpha Theta specifically supports Ohio CASA and Franklin County CASA. 100% of proceeds from this fundraiser will go to these organizations.
